Hello, I'm Coral Newell, Chairman of the Norfolk & Norwich Operatic Society, and I'd like to welcome you to our website, which I hope you will find attractive, easy to use and informative.
I have been asked to tell you something about myself, which if you are already a member I'm certain you'll find boring, and if you're a prospective member you will equally find boring so I'll be brief!
I have been a member of the Society for more years than I care to remember or admit to - but don't worry, I'm not yet in my dotage! At least I don't think so - if you know any present members you can check! I'm not going into details of all the shows in which I've been involved, on and off stage, both here in Norwich and in other parts of the country - all that is in the past - it's the present and future the Society must look to. Like other people's holiday snaps - it's just a big bore to those who weren't there! Backing me up is a lively Committee and together we do our best to do right by the Society.
What I can say is that the 'N & N O S' is very dear to me, and nothing gives me greater pleasure than when I see the house tabs go up every night of any show and I see the boys and girls up there giving it their all. Behind everything that an audience sees from 'out front', there must be a very dedicated team backstage to make sure that everything from costumes to make-up, to set, to props etc.etc. is spot on, and we at the 'N & N' are extremely lucky in this respect.
If you are at all interested in joining us, be it on or off stage, please do get in touch - you are assured of a warm welcome from everyone. We are always on the look out for new members, who are the life-blood of any Society. We look forward to hearing from you.
