The lifeblood of any society is it's membership.

The Company 2007 As a member of the Norfolk and Norwich Operatic Society, whether acting or non-acting, it is a requirement that you commit to the society the time and energy to help maintain the high standards we aspire to. FULL MEMBERSHIP - Acting members

Full Acting Membership is only available to those who are successful at audition for that year's show. Auditions for our 2009 production of 'West Side Story' will take place in September 2008. For further details please click here.

To become an acting member of the NNOS you should show a skill in either singing or dancing, preferably both. We are constantly looking for both men and women of all ages – including children for some productions.

We usually rehearse twice weekly, on Tuesday and Friday evenings from 7.00pm - 10.00pm from September to December, then more regularly for the month of January. We also have occasional additional rehearsals as required by the production. Rehearsals are normally held at Bignold Middle School, Wessex Street ( behind the old Norfolk and Norwich Hospital).

Acting members pay an annual membership fee of £15.00 which entitles that member to vote at the AGM and to priority booking for that show. Refundable deposits are also taken for the loan of scores and libs.

To join the company as an acting member you have to be successful at an audition for that year’s production. This audition is before the show Director, the Chairman, Musical Director and Assistant Director. Although this may sound a little daunting, we try and make it as friendly as possible - remember we have all been through it!

Auditions are generally held in either August or September and details will be posted on the relevant pages of this web site. Please note that audition songs, dialogue and dance routines MUST be learned before the audition. Competition can sometimes be fierce so it is wise to be as polished as possible.

FULL MEMBERSHIP - Non Acting members

Non-acting members are those who are either actively involved with the current production in a non performance role or past performers who wish to continue their involvement with the society. Applications for membership in this category are welcomed at any time.

Annual membership is also £15.00 which again entitles the non-acting member to vote at the AGM and also gives priority booking for the show.

Friends Membership

For those of you who wish to join the society after the next show has been cast and current year's membership closed, please become a member of our friends. There are full details on the friends page.

Whether acting or non-acting, subs become due in September each year.
